Survivor 27: Big Bad MILF -- Episodes 9 + 10 Recap/Analysis

It's been an action-packed couple of weeks on MILF Island Blood vs. Water and today we're back to catch up on everything we've missed. Could Vytas and Tina have done anything to change their identically tragic fates? What can be made of Aras's legacy now that his time in the game -- and presumably his Survivor career -- is officially over?  Was booting Laura the right move for literally anybody? How much does prior experience factor into Tyson's apparent dominance, and, most importantly, can anyone challenge him for the title? All this, plus we reveal the identity of our upcoming first-ballot Hall of Fame retrospective guest when you listen on the player below, find the direct link here, or find us on iTunes here.

  1. Just came across this podcast after the Marty and Yau episodes (Yau was terrible)

Good stuff this episode, but y'all have a weird misunderstanding of what the Hall of Fame means if Earl is one of your votes. It's the Hall of FAME, the people voted in should be notable in some way, not for just winning one season of Survivor in a completely non-noteworthy or memorable fashion. Even Kim and Heidik are pushing it, though one could argue more so for those two over Earl.

What about Jerri, Fairplay, Steph LaGrossa, Rupert, Rudy, etc? Even though I don't like some of those people at all, it's the Hall of FAME for pete's sake.

Maybe I should listen to your old Hall of Fame podcasts to get your read on this but you guys are treating this like some type of gameplay ranking.

  2. Hey Jon, glad you're enjoying it. re. the Hall of Fame thing, this was a ~30 second discussion of a topic we've covered in much greater detail in the past, going over a ton of non-gameplay aspects of HoF-worthiness. For my part I don't think Heidik is the greatest player of all time - though he's certainly up there - but he stands out to me as a truly unique winner and person, for good and bad reasons respectively; Kim is the only 'alpha female' winner and arguably the GOAT; and I made the same argument against Earl on the HoF podcasts iirc, though I think Earl's actually a better vote than Yul who has earned some support.

In any case, I don't want to just retype a summary of what we said on those, but if you have the time I'd recommend checking them out if you want to hear us go into it in more detail.

  3. I want to hear your HoF thoughts on Malcolm. If he never plays again (which he probably will), do you see Malcolm getting in, and if so, how many people are in front of him? I'm sure some of this is recency bias, but he played incredibly well in S25, probably was 1 misstep with Denise from the million, and was compelling as hell as an underdog in S26. In my opinion, he has all of the skills needed for a great player, I'd probably compare him to JT or Hayden from recent memory. I like the fact that Malcolm has been shown to work with both the older crowd in S25 and the younger guys in S26. I'd probably vote for him in front of his S26 opponent Cochran, but I wonder how much of that is me just hating how inevitable they made the Cochran win feel.
