Survivor 23: Season review & gameplay discussion ft. Gordon Holmes

Merry Christmas everyone! To kick off the holiday season we look back at Survivor: South Pacific with xfinity.tv writer Gordon Holmes, who was on location for the pre-game interviews and got to watch the first few days play out. Afterwards, we look back at the season - in particular, Sophie's win - from a historical perspective, answering questions such as: Where does Sophie rank among winners? Can this ranking be done? How? What makes a good player? All this, and more, in an extended-length podcast available HERE and HERE (the Gordon interview is first; the gameplay segment starts at roughly 1hr 10).

We will definitely be podcasting about the next season of Survivor, starting in February, and we hope to put out some content during the off-season as well. We'll post a schedule for the next few weeks when we've decided what we're doing; to stay updated, follow us on Twitter. Until then, enjoy the holidays!

Survivor 23: Pre-finale podcast

In less than 24 hours, the winner of Survivor: South Pacific will be crowned. For this podcast, Colin and I take a look at the players left in the game and assess their chances of winning, before talking about our feelings about the season in general. You can download it here or here.

Sometime next week we'll be recording a post-season review podcast with xfinitytv writer Gordon Holmes, and we'll be posting a tentative schedule for the offseason soon. As always, if you have comments you can reach us here or on Twitter. Enjoy the podcast, and enjoy the finale!

Plan A: Podcast; Plan B: Podcast.

First of all, AMAZING episode last night.

On the next podcast, Dom and I will be going over the last two episodes of Survivor and looking ahead to the season finale.  We plan on recording today (Thursday) or tomorrow.  It appears as though we have the audio issues totally figured out, so the turnaround shouldn't be long between recording and posting the new show on here.

After the finale this Sunday, we'll be doing a season-in-review episode, and we're happy to announce that for that episode, we'll be joined by Survivor Hall of Fame creator and Xfinity TV correspondent Gordon Holmes to break down the finale and take a look back at the season as a whole.

In the meantime, follow us on Twitter for hilarious banter and podcast updates (@colinstone and @MC_Usher) or check out the 2+2 thread.

Survivor 23: Hall of Fame discussion ft. Gary Wise

For this edition we are happy to be joined by poker writer and Survivor superfan ESPN's Gary Wise to discuss this year's potential entrants into the Survivor Hall of Fame. We talk about both the near-certain inductees and some dark horses as well as what a 'Hall of Fame' should aim to embody. You can find the podcast here or here (and, sometime in the distant future, on iTunes).

We'll post a schedule for the upcoming week sometime soon. We don't know exactly when and what we're going to podcast about yet, but at the very least we want to do one podcast before next Sunday's finale and one after. In the meantime, enjoy the show!

EDIT: We've also fixed the audio on the F7 podcast, so it should work normally now.

Survivor 23: F7cast

Apologies for the delay in uploading this; we hope it's worth the wait! In this podcast (which can be found here or here) we bring you over two hours of analysis, beginning with the events of the most recent episode (most notably Cochran's boot) and moving into a general discussion of why the F7 is such an important time in Survivor. We go back through every season and look at the moves that were and should have been made at this crucial time.

This week we also recorded a podcast about the Survivor Hall of Fame with ESPN's Gary Wise, which you can find here after tonight's Survivor episode. As always, if you have feedback or comments/suggestions for future podcasts we'd be delighted to hear from you; drop us a line on Twitter or here in the comments section.

New Episodes

Hey Guys--

We're recording TWO new episodes today.  The first will be about the newest episode of Survivor: South Pacific, featuring episode analysis, how things could have gone differently at F7, where we think each player stands, our predictions about what we might see next, and an in-depth look back at other famous and interesting F7 spots from Survivor history.

In the second episode, Dom and I are pleased to be joined by our first guest, ESPN's Gary Wise.  We'll be talking about the Survivor Hall of Fame, which is due to add three new members shortly after the conclusion of Survivor: South Pacific.  We'll be breaking down all of the contenders, revealing our own ballots, and predicting who we think will end up enshrined.

The episodes will be available for download later this week.  Enjoy!

Podcast scheduling

Hey everyone, we were unable to record the planned podcast for this week before today, and since it's Monday already we thought that we may as well wait until after this week's episode. A new podcast should be up on Thursday/Friday, and we'll go from there. Thanks for your patience!

Survivor 23: F9 discussion, flipcast

In this episode, Dom and Colin go over the events of the most recent episode of Survivor before launching into a general discussion about flipping and using this as a basis for making a final verdict about Cochran's F12 decision. If you're a fan of Survivor history, this one is for you.The episode can be downloaded here; once we figure out how to upload stuff to iTunes, we'll host it there as well.

We apologize for the delay and the patchy sound quality; issues with the recording software meant that the podcast wasn't ready for uploading until now. We hope it's worth the wait! If you have any feedback or questions for the next episode, you can reach us here, on the 2p2 thread, or on Twitter.

New Episode Update

Dom and I spent several hours recording this afternoon/evening, but due to unforeseen audio issues we need to do some editing to make it sound good, and by "we" I mean "Dom."  Because he lives in England, it's now 6 a.m. local time, which translates to no podcast tonight, but it will be up tomorrow afternoon (roughly, EST, fingers crossed).  I'm very excited about the new episode, I think we got some great discussion going, and I hope you guys come back to check it out.

Schedule Update

We're recording tomorrow afternoon (EST), so the new episode should be up shortly thereafter. Hopefully I can keep my mouth shut from time to time this week. If anyone has any questions for us, topics they want brought up, or anything else that you want to hear on the show, leave those questions in the comments section under this post and we'll be sure to get to them.

This week we'll be covering the episode that aired last night and talking about things that could have and maybe should have happened at F9. Then we'll be getting into an in-depth look at famous flips throughout Survivor history, evaluating each situation and ultimately coming to a final answer about Cochran's flip at F12. During the week of the recap episode, we'll be going over notable/intersting previous F7 situations, as it's generally one of the most interesting spots in each season. Hopefully this is the kind of stuff that you guys would enjoy, and thanks for listening.

Survivor 23: Post-Merge Analysis

In the the first episode of the 2+2 thread-inspired podcast, Dom (SavageTilt) and I, Colin (cstone), go over the current state of affairs on Survivor: South Pacific, player by player.  After that, we discuss what we think will happen in the game going forward.

We hope you can forgive some of the interruptions or dead spots, as this was the first time using the recording software as well as literally the first time we've ever spoken to each other in person.

This episode of the maybe-soon-to-be-named podcast can be downloaded HERE and HERE.  We hope to be able to stream the podcast on the homepage in the future, and apparently it's really easy to put a podcast on iTunes, so hopefully we can make that happen as well.
